About
Nestled on the beautiful Cornish coast, Plaidy and Millendreath Beaches are a dog-friendly gem that offers a tranquil alternative to some of Cornwall’s busier beaches. It is about ½ mile from Looe Beach along a pleasant footpath. Looe Beach has an all-year dog ban, so these two beaches to the east and Hannafore Beach to the west are your dog beaches if you are staying in Looe.
Plaidy Beach is the quieter, more secluded beach perfect for a relaxing stroll. It’s a lovely spot for dog owners looking for tranquillity away from the busier tourist areas. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the beach’s natural beauty makes it a fantastic choice for a laid-back beach walk or a play session with your dog.
A short walk west along the coast will bring you to Millendreath Beach, a more developed but still dog-friendly spot. While Millendreath has some seasonal dog restrictions, from May to the end of September, it’s worth visiting in the off-season when dogs can enjoy the beach freely. Millendreath is more accessible than Plaidy, with nearby parking and facilities, including a cafe and water sports centre. If you’re visiting outside the peak season, this beach offers a lovely combination of convenience and a relaxed coastal atmosphere.
Access and Facilities
Both beaches are easily accessible from Looe, either by walking the coastal path or car. Parking is more readily available near Millendreath Beach, so you might consider starting there if you want an easier arrival and then heading to Plaidy Beach on foot, an ideal casual coastal dog walk.
While Plaidy Beach is quite remote and has no direct facilities, Millendreath Beach offers a range of amenities, including a cafe, toilets, and parking. This makes it a great place to grab lunch or relax with a drink after exploring. Both locations provide ample opportunities to enjoy a scenic walk and let your dog explore the Cornish coast.
