About
Porthbean Beach is on the south Cornish coast, close to Portscatho on the Roseland peninsula. This stretch of coastline is part of the Carricknath Point to Porthbean Beach SSSI, a 49.5-hectare area known for its special plants and coastal habitats.
Porthbean Beach is made up of small coves, a mix of coarse sand, shingle and rocky platforms at low tide, meaning your dog will get a bit of everything.
This is a natural setting, and the walk along the coast is as much a part of the trip as the beach itself. The natural environment you’ll see includes coastal cliffs, rocky ledges, patches of wild flora and the rough coves below.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed at Porthbean Beach all year round.
Access and Facilities
The beach is on the coast path so the best parking option is the car park on New Road in Portscatho (postcode TR2 5HT) or slightly closer is on the roads above Porthcurnick Beach.
You have no facilities, so you will need to bring everything with you and take it away. There is a small cafe along the coast at Porthcurnick Beach.
