About
Birdoswald Roman Fort sits on Hadrian’s Wall. Today, you can see the fort’s walls, and you have one of the longest stretches of preserved wall. The original plan for the wall had regular forts roughly and, in between, a couple of turrets (watchtowers).
The wall here was originally an earth bank, but was later rebuilt in stone and aligned with the fort.
