Dog Access and Rules
The Lodges at Artlegarth are dog-friendly, with up to two dogs allowed per lodge. The lodges have plenty of outdoor space, including enclosed garden areas, so your dog can enjoy a safe and secure environment. While dogs must be kept on a lead around certain parts of the property to protect wildlife and other visitors, they’ll have ample opportunity to explore.

Each lodge has a well-equipped kitchen, spacious open-plan living areas, a decked patio, and private hot tubs. Surrounded by rolling hills and scenic countryside, it’s the perfect base for exploring the National Parks.
The location itself feels like a hidden gem. You’ll be surrounded by nature, with panoramic views and plenty of wildlife to spot right from your doorstep. There’s also a small village nearby with a traditional pub, and the charming market town of Kirkby Stephen is just a short drive away.
Things To See & Do
There’s no shortage of activities to enjoy with your dog in the surrounding area. Start your day with a stroll around the property’s grounds, then venture into the nearby Yorkshire Dales National Park for more challenging hikes and scenic walks. Popular routes like Nine Standards Rigg and Smardale Gill Nature Reserve offer stunning views and plenty of fresh air for you and your dog to enjoy.
For something more relaxed, take a wander around the nearby village of Ravenstonedale, which boasts a dog-friendly pub, The Black Swan, perfect for a cosy meal after a long walk. The market town of Kirkby Stephen offers independent shops, cafes, and a picturesque riverside walk along the River Eden.
Access and Facilities
The Lodges at Artlegarth are located near Ravenstonedale in Cumbria, easily accessible by car. If you’re coming from the south, it’s just off the M6 at Junction 38, while those traveling from the north can follow the A685.
Each lodge comes with private parking right outside for up to two vehicles.
