About
Meadfoot Beach is just beside Torquay, part of the stunning English Riviera. This tranquil cove is celebrated for its striking backdrop of limestone cliffs and views of Thatcher Point and Rock. Historically, Meadfoot has been a cherished retreat since Victorian times, attracting visitors with its calm waters, beach huts and scenic beauty.
Dog Access and Rules
Meadfoot Beach has two dog policies. The northeastern part bans dogs all year round, while the southwestern part bans dogs between May 1st and September 30th. As this is complicated, you should check the signs for the boundary.
Things To See & Do
This charming pebble and shingle beach offers an excellent out-of-season destination for dog owners. You must check tide times as you have no beach when the tide is in, although you can walk along the promenade.
Adventurous walkers can explore the nearby South West Coast Path, with breathtaking cliffside views.
Access and Facilities
Getting to Meadfoot Beach is straightforward and convenient. By car, it’s just a short drive from Torquay town centre, with parking available in laybys on the street, in the car park at the northeastern end or at the western end above the beach on Daddyhole Lane. If you’re travelling by public transport, local buses serve the area, making it easy to visit without driving. Walking to the beach is an enjoyable option for those staying nearby.
There are seasonal public toilets and a beachside cafe where you can grab a coffee or a light snack.
