About
Kimmeridge Bay is a dog-friendly beach on the Dorset Jurassic Coast. It is not a sandy beach, but a mix of sand, pebbles, boulders, and shale. Although it isn’t sandy, it offers swimming and excellent rock pools to explore.
The rocky limestone reefs make the area a key wildlife habitat, and the bay is a designated Marine Nature Reserve, with exhibitions of local marine wildlife at the Marine Centre.
Overlooking the beach is Clavell Tower, a Georgian folly, built on the cliff edge.
The sheltered bay is a great watersports location, with activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, surfing and fossil hunting, although hammers are not allowed.

Access and Facilities
Kimmeridge Bay and the car park are reached via a privately owned and maintained Approach Road with narrow passing lanes. Foot and bike access is free, but vehicle access incurs charges.
Facilities include parking, toilets, an ice-cream van on hot days and Village facilities approx. 20-minute walk away.
