Poole has three miles of sea-facing sandy beach stretching from the harbour entrance and joining Bournemouth in the east.
Here’s your guide to the best dog-friendly stretches of beach in Poole. Travelling eastwards from the harbour entrance, you will find Sandbanks Beach, Shore Road Beach, Canford Cliffs Beach, and Branksome Chine Beach. Then, you have both Hamworthy Beach and Lake Beach within the harbour.
Sandbanks Beach
Dog Policy: Dogs are welcome on Sandbanks Beach from October 1st to April 30th during the off-season. During the peak season, dogs have a designated dog beach zone from the western end of Sandbanks Beach to Haven Point (by the chain ferry).
What to Expect: Sandbanks Beach on the Sandbanks Peninsular is a large sandy beach backed by some very expensive seafront houses. The Poole harbour side of Sandbanks Peninsular is very popular with sailing and windsurfing. If you visit during peak season, check out the designated dog-friendly zones.

Dog Policy: Shore Road Beach has a seasonal dog ban from May 1st to September 30th.

Dog Policy: Branksome Chine Beach allows dogs all year eastwards between the Branksome Chine Beach office and the Alum Chine Beach Office, Bournemouth.

Hamworthy Park Beach

To the west of the harbour, the dog-friendly Studland Bay Beach is accessed by the chain ferry.
