About
Broughton House & Garden is in the charming town of Kirkcudbright. This historic house was once the home of Scottish artist E.A. Hornel. It showcases his incredible art collection and Japanese-inspired garden.
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted inside the house, but if you visit as a couple or family, you can take turns while the other relaxes in the garden. The house provides a glimpse into Hornel’s world, with rooms filled with artwork, rare books, and furnishings.
The garden is an especially peaceful highlight. It was designed with a Japanese influence and features colourful borders, sculptures, and winding paths.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs on a lead are allowed in the garden but are not permitted in the house itself.
Access and Facilities
On-street parking is available outside the house (although the High Street can be busy); further parking is available around the town and in nearby car parks.
The house and garden have seasonal opening times, so check the website link below.
