About
Lee Valley Park is a long stretch of green space that runs from Waltham Abbey up through bits of Hertfordshire and beyond. It’s a giant patchwork of paths, parks, rivers, and nature reserves, and the best bit? Loads of it is dog-friendly.
If your dog enjoys running, paddling in shallow water, or exploring the undergrowth, this place is worth checking out. It’s not just one single place; it’s more like a sprawling network of connected areas, so every time you visit, you can try somewhere new.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome throughout most of Lee Valley Park, with a few common-sense rules in place. Some areas require dogs to be on leads, primarily around nature reserves or livestock fields.
In the busier sections, such as near the Olympic White Water Centre, you’ll want to keep your dog close, as there are bikes, kids, ducks, and ice cream vans. If your dog’s not into crowds, stick to the quieter woodland trails or canal paths.
Things To See & Do
With over 10,000 acres spanning 42 km (26 miles) in London, Essex and Hertfordshire, you have many walking options. There are too many to list here, so we suggest visiting the Visit Lee Valley website, which lists various routes ranging from just over a mile to nearly 10 miles.
Access and Facilities
There are many options for access, as the park extends northwards from the River Thames to Ware, Hertfordshire, through areas such as Stratford, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey, Broxbourne, and Hoddesdon.
