About
Camas Daraich Beach is a hidden gem on the Isle of Skye, perfect for a peaceful retreat with your dog. With its remote location and stunning white sands, this beach is a true escape into nature.
Dog Access and Rules
Camas Daraich Beach is incredibly dog-friendly, with no restrictions on dogs being allowed on the beach year-round. It’s a spacious, quiet spot where your dog can run freely, play in the sand, and explore the rock pools.
Things To See & Do
Camas Daraich is located at the southern tip of the Sleat Peninsula on Skye, close to the Point of Sleat. This secluded bay offers panoramic views, and its unspoiled nature makes it feel like a step back in time. While not steeped in human history like other parts of Skye, it’s the perfect place for enjoying Skye’s wild, rugged beauty and the peacefulness of its untouched landscape.
The wide, sandy shore is ideal for a dog walk and the surrounding rocks and coastal paths provide plenty of interesting terrain for adventurous dogs to explore. As the beach takes a hike to reach, you need to think about tides as you will get the best beach experience when the tide is on either side of low tide.
If you are feeling really energetic, you can continue to the Point of Sleat after a play on the beach.
Access and Facilities
Reaching Camas Daraich requires a bit of a hike, but the journey is part of the adventure. You’ll follow a footpath towards the Point of Sleat from the nearby village of Aird of Sleat. The walk is about 2 miles each way, and while it’s not overly strenuous, sturdy shoes are recommended. The path is well-signposted, and your dog will love the chance to stretch their legs before arriving at the beautiful, secluded beach.
Due to its remote location, Camas Daraich Beach does not have facilities directly. This is part of its charm, offering a genuinely wild and peaceful experience. Ensure to bring water, snacks, and essentials, as no nearby shops or amenities exist.
