About
Canna Campsite is a simple, dog‑welcoming base for exploring the Isles of Canna and Sanday, with basic facilities and easy access to the island’s walks and wildlife. It is very much “island camping” rather than a holiday park, so it suits dog owners who are happy with a short walk from the ferry, limited infrastructure and a strong emphasis on respecting nature as it comes.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome at the campsite, and they can supply dog towels and food/water bowls. Please let them know at the time of booking if you are bringing a dog.
Things To See & Do
From Canna Campsite, you can head out on foot in almost any direction. Canna has waymarked routes and informal paths that take in bird cliffs, archaeological sites, bays, hills, and the linked island of Sanday, with wildlife including puffins, eagles, otters, and occasionally basking sharks and whales.
Access and Facilities
Note that only residents and contractors can bring vehicles to Canna, so travel is by foot or by bike.
The campsite has toilets and showers, drinking water, a cookshack for preparing and cooking – with a gas cooking ring, picnic tables, and fire pits.
There is no electricity at the campsite; to charge items, use the Shearing Shed community space or the Canna Community Shop.
Canna Community Shop is fully stocked at the start of April and open 24 hours on an honesty basis. Just write down your shopping and pay with cash or a card. The shop has a wide range of groceries, dry goods, whole foods, frozen meat and bread, dairy, ice cream, soft drinks, sweets, and crisps (no alcohol or tobacco).
