Penrhos Coastal Park is a dog-friendly haven with plenty of opportunities to explore the park’s beaches, trails, and open green spaces. Dogs are welcome off-lead in many areas, though keeping them on a lead is recommended in busy areas and near wildlife-sensitive areas.

The 200 acres of Penrhos Coastal Park and Nature Reserve overlook the sandbanks and the Cymyran Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The park has an array of activities for you and your dog. Begin your visit with a walk along Penrhos Beach, where dogs can paddle, play, and explore the shoreline. The coastal park also has numerous walking trails winding through woodlands, grassy fields, and around tranquil ponds, making it perfect for a long or short walk. For those who enjoy a picnic, there are spots with lovely sea views where you and your dog can take a break.
Access and Facilities
Getting to Penrhos Coastal Park is easy whether you travel by car or public transport. For drivers, there’s a car park at the entrance, just a short walk from the beach and trails. If you’re using public transport, Holyhead train station is nearby, and local bus services stop near the park’s entrance. Clear signage along the trails will guide you to various areas within the park, including beach access, woodland paths, and scenic viewpoints, so it’s easy to find your way around.
Public toilets are available near the car park, and picnic tables are scattered throughout the park. You also have a cafe a short walk back from the car park.
