Porth Tywyn Mawr Beach, also known as Sandy Beach after the name of the caravan park, is a fantastic dog-friendly beach option in northwest Anglesey. With its sands, gentle waves, and stunning coastal views, this peaceful, uncrowded beach is perfect for off-lead adventures, scenic walks, and paddling in the sea.

Access and Facilities
The beach is located on Anglesey’s northwest coast, close to Llanfwrog. It’s about 30 minutes from Holyhead and 40 minutes from Bangor. There is a small car park near the beach, but it can fill up quickly in summer. Additional parking can be found along nearby roads. Buses run to Llanfwrog, but you’ll need to walk to the beach from there.
The caravan park at one end makes the beach busier than expected, although you have a shop within the caravan park.
