Dogs are welcome in the grounds as long as they’re always kept on leads. Dogs are now allowed in the House and Collections except for assistance dogs.

Chiddingstone Castle has a rich and varied history. Originally a Tudor dwelling, the house was transformed into the Gothic-style castle seen today by Henry Streatfeild in the early 19th century. The castle has served various purposes over the centuries, including as a home, a school, and a military base during World War II. Since 1955, it has been open to the public, featuring the extensive collections of the late Denys Eyre Bower, who gathered artefacts ranging from ancient Egyptian antiquities to Japanese armour.
The 35-acre estate provides plenty of space for leisurely dog walks. The grounds include formal gardens, a lake, and a variety of scenic paths that are perfect for exploring with your dog.

Chiddingstone Castle is easily accessible by car and public transport. There is ample on-site parking available for visitors. Nearby train stations are Hever, from which you can take a short taxi ride to the castle, and Edenbridge Town Station, with local bus services connecting to Chiddingstone.
The Castle Tea Room offers a selection of refreshments and light meals. While dogs are not allowed inside the tea room, outdoor seating will enable you to enjoy your food and drink with your dog by your side.
