About
Visiting Epple Bay Beach with your dog is a wonderful way to enjoy Kent’s coastal charm. Located in Birchington-on-Sea, Epple Bay is a picturesque spot known for its tranquillity and scenic beauty.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed on Epple Bay Beach throughout the year without any restrictions. This makes it a great choice for dog owners who want to enjoy beach activities regardless of the season.
Things To See & Do
Epple Bay offers a more secluded and quieter beach experience compared to the busier nearby beaches. It features a mix of sand and shingle, making it ideal for leisurely walks with your dog.
Epple Bay’s size and accessibility can change significantly with the tide. The beach extends significantly at low tide, revealing more sand and rock pools, which can be fun to explore with your dog.
The beach is flanked by white chalk cliffs, with on top a large grass area with picturesque views.
You also have the seawall promenade, which starts/ends at Epple Bay and hugs the cliffs around into Minnis Bay. This is popular with dog walkers, runners, and cyclists.
Access and Facilities
There is limited parking available on Epple Bay Avenue above the beach, so it’s advisable to arrive early during peak times to secure a spot. The beach is accessed via a cobbled path leading down from the cliff top.
There are no facilities other than parking, so you will need to pack essentials such as fresh water for you and your dog, a bowl, dog waste bags, and a lead.
