About
Kingsdown Beach is a dog-friendly beach, part of a large stretch of sand and shingle that, at the southern end, sits beneath large white chalk cliffs and, towards the north, is backed by grassy areas. As the tide goes out, you get areas of compact sand below the shingle bank and a chalk shelf.
The beach, also known as Oldstairs Bay, is located at the northern end of the White Cliffs of Dover, part of the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) that stretches to Folkestone, with the beach and nearby downs being home to migrating birds and rare plants.
