About
St. Margaret’s Bay Beach, located near Dover in Kent, is a picturesque coastal destination renowned for its stunning white cliffs and clear waters. This charming beach offers a blend of natural beauty and tranquillity, making it an excellent spot for a day out with your dog. Here’s what you can expect when visiting St. Margaret’s Bay Beach with your furry friend:
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are not allowed on St Margarets Bay Beach from the southwest end of the slipway to Ness Point between 9 am and 6 pm from 1 May to 30 September.
Dogs must be kept on a lead all year round on the promenade, car park, and amenity areas.
Things To See & Do
St. Margaret’s Bay Beach is primarily a pebble beach with exposed sand areas during low tide. The combination of pebbles and sand provides varied terrain for exploration. Behind the beach is a hard path promenade with benches and a grassy area.
The beach is framed by the iconic white cliffs, offering breathtaking views and a dramatic backdrop for your visit. Explore the walking trails along the cliffs for stunning views of the English Channel. The trails provide an opportunity for a more vigorous hike with your dog.
On a sunny day, you may even be able to see France, and this beach is often used as a location to start channel swims.
Access and Facilities
A car park is right behind the beach, though it can fill up quickly on sunny days. Be careful as the pub also has a car park but only for your visit to the pub, so don’t be tempted to use that.
Facilities at the beach include a promenade, toilets, a dog-friendly pub and a slipway.
