Dog Access and Rules
Tintern Abbey welcomes well-behaved dogs on leads.
Things To See & Do
Founded in 1131 by Cistercian monks, Tintern Abbey started out as a timber building, then a simple stone church, but later, in 1269, it became the Gothic structure you see the remains of today.
You and your dog can enjoy exploring the abbey’s surroundings, including the riverside walks and trails through the Wye Valley. The area offers scenic paths perfect for long or short walks, depending on how active you and your dog feel.
Access and Facilities
Tintern Abbey is easily accessible by car, with parking available nearby. The site is just off the A466 road, which links Chepstow to Monmouth. If you’re travelling by public transport, there are regular bus services from Chepstow and Monmouth, which stop near the abbey.
In addition to local car parking, you have toilets, a visitor centre, and a gift shop.
