About
California Beach is located in the charming village of California, just a few miles north of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. The California gold rush inspired the name after gold coins were discovered in the 19th century.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed on the California Beach year-round, but it’s important to keep them on a lead during the the busy summer months to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. Off-peak, your furry friends can roam freely and enjoy the sandy expanse.
Things To See & Do
California Beach is a lovely, wide sand and shingle beach at the bottom of low sandy cliffs, merging with Scratby and Caister Beaches.
The peaceful and picturesque part of the coastline offers a great opportunity for walks along the beach and coast path. The sea is great for a dip, and your dog will love splashing around.
Access and Facilities
Reaching California Beach is straightforward. The beach is easily accessible by car, although it is very hard to park near the beach and what seems like a car park is private to the pub. Regular bus services from Great Yarmouth stop in California Village, a short walk from the beach.
You have a steep slope and steps down onto the beach; if you don’t want the steep access, you can walk from Caister or Scratby beaches.
Caravan parks dominate the area, but you do have toilets and refreshments.
