About
Caister-on-Sea Holiday Park sits right up on the Norfolk coast, just north of Great Yarmouth. The park’s one of Haven’s older ones, having first opened its doors in 1906, but don’t let that put you off. For dog owners, it’s a solid choice. It’s right by a selection of dog-friendly beaches where your dog can run about.
Dog Access and Rules
Caister-on-Sea Holiday Park welcomes dogs in outdoor spaces. You can’t take dogs in the main restaurant, swimming pool, or entertainment areas, which makes sense.
What's On Offer
You’ve got the usual stuff on site: shop, takeaways, and a fish and chip shop.
The real win though? It’s about a 2-minute trot to the beach. No need to pile in the car or cross main roads. You and the dog can be legging it through the dunes in no time.
Things To See & Do
Caister Beach is the main draw. It stretches for miles, and it’s mostly dog-friendly if you stay north of Great Yarmouth.
There’s the Caister Lifeboat Experience in Caister village, where dogs are allowed if they behave.
Great Yarmouth is just a 10-minute drive away, and there are plenty of things to do there as well. The main stretch of beach is dog-free in the summer, but Gorleston, to the south, is quieter and has year-round dog access. There’s also the Broads not far off, with boat hire places that allow dogs.
There’s a cracking walk north along the beach to California (yep, that’s its name), where there’s a little cafe that lets dogs in the outside bit.
Access and Facilities
The easiest way to get to the park is by car. It’s just off the A149. Loads of parking at the park.
If you’re travelling by train, you’ll need to get off at Great Yarmouth, then take a bus or taxi. Not the smoothest, but doable if you’re travelling light.
