About
Ryedale Folk Museum sits in the little village of Hutton-le-Hole, where a stream runs through the middle of the green, sheep wander about as if they own the place, and the moors rise quietly behind it all.
The museum itself spans six acres, making it feel more like a small historic village than a museum. Each building has its own story, from the old village shop to the blacksmith’s forge and schoolroom.
The museum sits right by the village green, so once you’ve wandered the site, it’s easy to carry on exploring. The stream is shallow, clear, and perfect for dipping paws on warm days, and the open grass around the village is ideal for a relaxed potter.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome on short leads throughout the museum site, including the historic buildings.
Access and Facilities
Ryedale Folk Museum is easy to find by road, with signposting as you approach the village. There’s a pay-and-display car park right next to the museum. The surface is level, and you can get from the car to the entrance in just a minute or two.
There are toilets on site, a small gift shop, and picnic benches dotted around the museum grounds. The village has a tearoom and a dog-friendly pub just a short walk away, so you’re not short of places to sit down afterwards. Dog waste bins are located near the village car park, so you’ll have somewhere handy to tidy up after your dog before heading home.
