Name: Teesmouth National Nature Reserve

The Teesmouth National Nature Reserve is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in a unique estuary setting surrounded by water and industry. The site has two areas separated by the power station: Seal Sands and North Gare.

North Gare is located to the north of the power station and consists of a beach, sand dunes and marsh. Car parking is well-signposted to the north of the power station and you have nature trails that take you around the reserve.

Seal Sands to the south is an area of intertidal mud flats, a great place for spotting seals and bird watching. Car Parking is at Cowpen Marsh, where an easy-access footpath takes you to wheelchair-accessible hides overlooking Seal Sands.

Dogs are allowed but must be kept under close control.

The reserve has no facilities other than car parking.
