About
Visiting Caerfai Bay Beach with your dog is a fantastic choice, especially if you’re exploring the area around St David’s in Pembrokeshire. This picturesque cove is known for its stunning cliffs, clear blue waters, and accessibility, making it a delightful spot for both humans and pets.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome at Caerfai Bay Beach throughout the year without any restrictions. This makes it an excellent beach for visitors who wish to bring their pets along no matter the season.
Things To See & Do
Caerfai Bay is surrounded by high, colourful cliffs made of red and purple sandstone, which add a dramatic backdrop to its sandy beach. This sandstone was quarried for the construction of St. David’s Cathedral.
Caerfai Bay Beach is a sandy beach with a high-water pebble bank. At high tide, there is little beach, but as the tide goes out, the beach becomes much larger and wider, and the waters are shallow. The water here is usually clear and calm, ideal for paddling and swimming during warmer weather.
If you and your dog are up for more adventure, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs nearby, offering spectacular coastal views and additional walking opportunities.
Access and Facilities
There is a small car park near the beach. During peak season, it can fill up quickly, so it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a spot.
The beach is accessible via a short, steep path from the car park. While generally manageable, it might be a bit challenging for some dogs or owners with mobility issues.
