About
Located in the quaint village of St Dogmaels, just a short drive from Cardigan, the abbey is rich in history. Founded in the 12th century, it was once a thriving Tironensian monastery. The atmospheric ruins you see today tell the story of monastic life, with its crumbling walls and remnants of the abbey’s church offering glimpses into the past.
St Dogmaels Abbey played an important role in the area’s religious history until its dissolution in 1536 following the Reformation.
After visiting the abbey, you can take a stroll along the nearby River Teifi. The riverside paths offer lovely views and are perfect for an extended walk with your dog.
