Tretower Court and Castle, located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, is a dog-friendly historic site you and your furry companion can explore. The fascinating medieval courtyard and the remnants of the 12th-century castle while enjoying the beautiful Welsh countryside.

Things To See & Do
You get two sites in one:
Tretower Castle
- Medieval Ruins: The original Tretower Castle, dating back to the 12th century, is a striking Norman structure. You can walk among the impressive remains of the round tower and walls, which offer a glimpse into the site’s military past.
- Historical Views: From the top of the castle mound, you get a stunning view of the surrounding countryside, perfect for a stroll with your dog as you take in the scenery.
Tretower Court
- Restored Medieval Manor House: Tretower Court is a beautifully restored 15th-century manor house. While the interior may not be accessible to dogs, you can still admire the stunning exterior architecture and courtyard.
- Medieval Gardens: The Court is surrounded by recreated medieval gardens filled with herbs and plants that would have been grown during the period. The garden paths are open to dogs.
Grounds and Surroundings
- Open Grounds: The expansive grounds are perfect for a leisurely walk with your dog. The area offers plenty of space for you and your pet to enjoy the peaceful, rural landscape.
Access and Facilities
Tretower is accessible by car with a gravelled car park area and roadside parking opposite the court.
Facilities include toilets, a gift shop and a cafe in the visitor centre.
