Jarlshof is located near Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands, Scotland. It is one of Britain’s most remarkable archaeological sites, with a history spanning over 4,000 years. The site features layers of settlements, including Bronze Age roundhouses, Iron Age brochs, Norse longhouses, and a medieval farmhouse. Sir Walter Scott popularised its name in his novel The Pirate, adding literary significance.

Jarlshof is accessible by car from Lerwick, just a 30-minute drive along the scenic A970. The site has car parking at the Sumburgh Hotel, which is a short walk away.
