Papil Water enhances the charm of Tresta Beach, which is celebrated for its pristine white sand along a sheltered bay framed by rolling hills and dramatic coastal cliffs.
The soft sands and scenic surroundings make it ideal for peaceful strolls, whilst dogs who love water will enjoy splashing in the shallow, crystal-clear waters of the sheltered bay.
If you want a decent walk, then you can take a circular trail around Papil Water, which is an easy walk and roughly 3km.
Access and Facilities
Tresta Beach is located on Fetlar and is accessible by ferry from Yell and Unst. You’ll need to drive to Gutcher in Yell to board the ferry to Fetlar. Once on the island, the beach is well-signposted and easily reached by car or a short walk.
Tresta Beach maintains its charm by offering a back-to-nature experience. It has no facilities other than a few car parking spaces.
