About
Ladye Bay is one of those places that doesn’t try to impress you—it just is what it is. Tucked away on the edge of Clevedon, it’s a small, quiet cove where you’re likelier to see locals than tourists. No big signs pointing the way, no ice cream vans, no fuss. It’s just a stretch of rocky beach, a bit of sand when the tide’s out, and the kind of peace you don’t get on bigger, busier beaches. If you’ve got a dog that prefers to explore rather than just run in straight lines, it’s a good beach and an option to get away from Clevedon’s central beach all year restrictions.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed here all year round; it’s just common sense stuff like keeping them under control and picking up after them. The beach is mostly pebbles and rock, so if your dog’s not keen on that, they might not love it. But for the ones that enjoy climbing over things and sniffing around rock pools, it’s ideal.
Things To See & Do
Ladye Bay is not the easiest to get to—there’s a steep path leading down from the road, which can be a bit slippery if it’s been raining. But once you’re down there, it feels like you’ve found something hidden. The view across the Bristol Channel is decent, especially on a clear day.
One thing to watch out for is the tide and strong currents. It comes in fast here, and if you’re not paying attention, you’ll suddenly find no beach left.
Access and Facilities
Parking’s not great, to be honest. There’s no car park right next to it, just roadside parking along Bay Road if you can find a space. If not, you’re better off parking closer to Clevedon Pier and walking from there. Public transport’s not much help either unless you fancy a long walk from the nearest bus stop. But if you’re willing to deal with the hassle of getting there, Ladye Bay is one of those places that feels like a bit of a secret—somewhere that’s still got a bit of wildness to it, where dogs can be dogs without too many rules getting in the way.
Don’t expect bins or facilities because it’s out of the way. If you need a coffee or a snack, you’ll have to head back towards Clevedon.
