About
Porlock Bay stretches between Hurlstone Point and Porlock Weir and includes the beach, ridge and salt marsh. The beach is a large, dog-friendly pebble beach and is rare in this cliff-dominated stretch of the Somerset coast. The bay is split into several beach sections: Porlock Weir, Porlock, and Bossington.
The shingle ridge forms a natural barrier between the sea and the tidal salt marsh, designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (Porlock Marshes).
This isn’t really a beach visit, but it’s a nice dog walk with beach access. You can explore the pebble beach and salt marsh, and see the old lime kilns and WWII pillboxes.
Dog Access and Rules
Does Porlock Bay allow dogs? Yes, all beaches are dog-friendly year-round, but you will need to keep dogs on a lead in the marshland to protect wildlife.

Access and Facilities
Access is best at Porlock Weir, where facilities are at the beach’s western end and include car parking, toilets, and a pub. Alternatively, you can park at the National Trust Bossington car park and take a longer coastal path walk to the eastern end of the beach.
