About
Bracelet Bay sits just around the headland from Mumbles, a short walk past the famous lighthouse. It’s one of those beaches that feels more rugged than pretty, with rocky shelves, pebbles and tidal pools instead of stretches of golden sand. That’s not to say it’s not worth a visit; it’s brilliant if you’ve got a dog that doesn’t care about chasing a ball in soft sand and wants to clamber about and explore.
Dog Access and Rules
From May 1st to September 30th, dogs aren’t allowed on Bracelet Bay Beach. Outside those summer months, you can bring them along freely.
Things To See & Do
The prominent landmark is Mumbles Lighthouse, perched on its little island and visible from most angles of the bay. At low tide, you can walk the causeway across the rocks to get a closer look, though it’s slippery in places.
What Bracelet Bay lacks in soft sand, it makes up for in views. The Gower coastline rolls away in both directions, and if you wander up the coastal path, you get a sweeping look back over Swansea Bay.
Access and Facilities
Reaching Bracelet Bay is simple by car. From Swansea city centre, it’s around a 15–20 minute drive, following the coast road through Mumbles. There’s a pay-and-display car park right next to the beach.
Public transport’s possible too, buses run to Mumbles, and it’s a short walk up and around the headland from there. It’s not flat walking, mind, so if you’ve got bags, dogs and kids in tow, the car park option is kinder.
Facilities include a cafe and restaurant located on the edge of the car park, both of which offer outdoor seating that is dog-friendly. Public toilets are available nearby, and there are dog waste bins by the car park. It’s not fancy, but it’s practical, and everything you need is within easy reach.
