About
Mumbles Pier and the beach around it are worth a visit if you’ve got your dog with you.
The Victorian pier is 835ft and one of the few remaining iron piers in Wales.
The pier itself is one of those classic seaside spots, blending history with modern touches. Dogs are allowed on the pier walkway, so you can take a gentle wander, enjoy the sea air, and let your dog have a good nose about. There are benches along the way if you fancy a sit-down, and the views across Swansea Bay are lovely.
The Lifeboat station relocated to the head of the Pier in 2014, and it can be visited daily.
The south-facing beach is mainly composed of pebbles and offers views over Swansea Bay and the lighthouse.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed in all outside spaces at Mumbles Pier, including the Private Beach, all year round! They are also allowed in the Beach Hut Cafe, the gift shop, and on the pier, provided they are kept on a lead.
Access and Facilities
Getting to Mumbles Pier is straightforward. If you’re driving, there’s a car park right next to the pier, so you don’t need to carry bags far. From Swansea city centre, it’s about a 15-minute drive along the coast road. If you’re without a car, the bus from Swansea drops you close enough for a short walk.
Facilities are practical but enough. There are toilets at the pier, places to grab food, and bins dotted around for dog waste. You won’t find fancy extras, but you don’t need them here. What you do get is a mix of sea, sand, and a slice of Mumbles life.
