It’s important to note that Carbis Bay implements seasonal dog restrictions. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 15 May until 30 September, between 10 am and 6 pm. Outside these times and from October to early May, dogs are allowed on the beach.

Features and activities:

Carbis Bay is a fantastic sandy beach somewhat sheltered from the full force of the Atlantic by its position in St. Ives Bay, resulting in calmer waters that are ideal for swimming and paddling.

If visiting outside the dog-friendly beach times, consider exploring nearby paths and trails that offer stunning coastal views and are dog-friendly year-round. You can either head into St. Ives town and browse the shops and get something to eat or head more remote out towards the Hayle estuary.

Access and facilities:

The beach is part of a private resort and has facilities, although a small car park with a cheaper option at the long stay a little up the road, although a steep walk carrying all your beach kit.

Like most St Ives beaches we believe it is best to park outside at St Erth station and catch the train in. Carbis Bay has a stop just behind the beach, or you can take a walk along the coast path from St Ives.

The beach has seasonal lifeguards and facilities to rent canoes and SUPs.

Conclusion:

Visiting Carbis Bay with your dog outside of the restricted times can be a delightful experience thanks to its stunning beach and relatively calm waters.

If you want an all-year dog-friendly beach and to get away from the crowds then you can take the 10-minute walk along the coast path to Porthkidney Sands.
