Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome at the Chiltern Open Air Museum, but they must always be kept on a short lead. This ensures the safety and comfort of all visitors and the livestock that live on the site.
Dogs are allowed in the historic buildings except for the furnished homes, where delicate artefacts are on display.

The Chiltern Open Air Museum is set within 45 acres of beautiful Chiltern countryside. It has an outstanding collection of over 30 reconstructed historic buildings, a working Victorian farm, and living history events. You may recognise elements of the museum, as the historic buildings make it a popular filming venue and have been used for filming including Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, Grantchester, Horrible Histories, and many more.
In addition to the historic buildings and gardens, the park features a heritage adventure playground, woodland trail, sensory trail, orienteering course, gift shop, and tea room.
The extensive grounds offer plenty of walking paths, perfect for exploring with your dog. These paths allow you to enjoy the scenic beauty of the museum while giving your dog some exercise.
Access and Facilities
The museum is easily accessible by road, close to the M25 at Junction 17. The nearest train stations are The Chiltern Line from Marylebone or the Metropolitan Line from Baker Street to Chalfont & Latimer Station or Chorleywood Station, within short taxi rides from the museum.
The museum has food outlets and water points are available where you can fill up a bowl to keep your dog hydrated during your visit. While the museum has picnic areas where you can enjoy a snack or a meal, please be mindful of controlling your dog, especially around food and other visitors.
