About
The Bowgie Inn sits on the West Pentire headland just outside Newquay, overlooking Crantock Beach. It’s a classic clifftop pub with coastal views and a relaxed atmosphere, ideal after a long dog walk.
The location is one of its biggest strengths. The South West Coast Path passes nearby, and circular walks across the headland link easily to beaches such as Crantock and Porth Joke, making it a natural stopping point during a day out with your dog.
The Bowgie Inn serves classic pub food with a Cornish focus, so it works well as a proper meal stop as well as somewhere to grab a drink after a walk. The menu mixes traditional pub favourites with homemade dishes using local ingredients.
With its large terrace and beer garden, it’s a place where you can sit outside with your dog and enjoy the scenery after exploring the coast.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome at the Bowgie Inn, but only in the outdoor areas, including the terrace and beer garden. Dogs are not permitted inside the building, apart from assistance dogs.
Things To See & Do
The Bowgie Inn is ideally placed for coastal walks with a dog.
You can head out directly onto the headland for circular walks with sea views, or continue towards nearby beaches. Crantock Beach and Porth Joke are both within easy walking distance and are both dog-friendly year-round.
This makes the Bowgie especially useful as a mid-walk stop rather than just a destination in its own right.
Access and Facilities
The Bowgie Inn has a large free customer car park, with additional pay-and-display beach parking nearby if needed.
The headland location is straightforward to reach by car, but public transport options are limited, so most visitors arrive by vehicle.
