About
Also known as Baby Bay, Pentireglaze Haven feels like Polzeath’s calmer little sibling.
Tucked just around the corner from the main beach, it’s smaller, more sheltered, and generally a lot quieter. The waves here are gentler, thanks to its position near the headland, which gives it that softer, more relaxed feel.
At low tide, you’ll find patches of sand opening up alongside rocky areas and shallow pools. It’s not a huge space, but that’s part of its charm, as it feels contained, easy, and perfect for slowing things down.
Dog Access and Rules
Pentireglaze Haven is similar to its bigger neighbour, Polzeath Beach and does not allow dogs from 15 May to 30 September, 10 am–6 pm.
If you are exploring the area, there may be restrictions across farmland at sensitive times of year, such as during the lambing season or between March and the end of July, when ground-nesting birds are on eggs or raising their young.
Because the beach is smaller and often used by families, it’s a good idea to be conscious of your surroundings, especially on busy days.
Things To See & Do
The beach at low tide offers lots of sand and little rock pools to explore. Whilst the calmer waters make this a lovely spot for dogs who prefer a gentle dip rather than big waves.
Perfect for curious noses and slow wandering.
This isn’t about long, endless walks; it’s about sitting on the sand, watching your dog potter about, enjoying the calm.
You’re right next to Pentire Point, so it’s easy to combine a beach stop with a scenic coastal walk.
Access and Facilities
Pentireglaze Haven is easygoing, but still worth planning for.
Parking is at the National Trust car park at Pentireglaze Haven (Postcode PL27 6QY), where you will also find the closest toilets and cafe.
Access is a short, fairly easy walk from the car park, much easier than many of the steeper coves in the area.
You could also park and walk from Polzeath.
The beach is best at low tide for more space, as it can feel small when the tide is in.
