About
Perched on cliffs outside Fowey, St Catherine’s Castle merges history and landscape.
Built by Henry VIII in the 1530s to defend the harbour, the castle now remains as a quiet ruin above the sea. While not large, it has a striking atmosphere.
The walk to reach it from Readymoney Cove is part of the trip. And when you arrive, the views stretch out across the water, giving you that pause-worthy moment that makes it all rewarding
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs on leads are welcome year-round at St Catherine’s Castle, making this a perfect coastal walk for you and your dog.
A few things to keep in mind:
- The path includes uneven ground, steps, and some steep sections.
- Keep dogs on leads, near cliff edges and the castle grounds.
- Castle ruins have drops and narrow spots, so take extra care.
The walk suits most dogs, who are comfortable with varied terrain.
