About
The Packhorse Inn in Little Longstone is a classic Peak District country pub that genuinely welcomes dogs as part of the experience, not just as an afterthought. Sitting just off the Monsal Trail and close to some of the National Park’s best walks, it is perfectly placed for muddy-paws stop‑offs and relaxed meals after a day on the hills.
Inside, the Packhorse feels like a proper old inn, with low beams and open fires where you and your dog can thaw out on colder days.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome in the bar, with water bowls provided and a relaxed atmosphere that makes settling in easy.
What's On Offer
The pub serves seasonal menus built around locally sourced meat, game, breads and cheeses from Derbyshire producers. Alongside the food, there is an excellent choice of cask ales, including local Thornbridge beers from Bakewell, plus a well-stocked wine list, making it a great spot whether you are calling in for a post‑walk pint or a full meal.
Things To See & Do
Because it sits close to the Monsal Trail and some of the most scenic walking around Monsal Dale, the Packhorse is a natural end‑point for dog‑friendly routes in this part of the Peaks. Muddy boots and muddy paws are very much part of the scene, so you can relax about walking in straight from the trail, then enjoy a cosy corner, good food and a content, snoozing dog.
Access and Facilities
Parking is available on the village road. For most people, walking in Monsal Dale and on the Monsal Trail, The Packhorse Inn is just a 10-minute walk along a lane from Monsal Head.
