Things To See & Do
Great Mattiscombe Beach is characterised by its rugged landscape, golden sands, rocks, and crystal-clear waters, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and their dogs.
I’m not sure you will visit the beach for the day, but as part of exploring this Peninsula, the South West Coast Path runs around the peninsula and alongside Mattiscombe Beach, with various dog-walking routes.
As this is a remote beach, you may see some seals.

The nearest parking is Start Point, about a 2 km (1 mile) walk from the beach. The walk down to the beach from the car park is a scenic, rewarding one but is steep and uneven.
Great Mattiscombe Beach is secluded, and there are no on-site facilities such as cafes or toilets. Bring everything you need, including food, water, and waste bags.
