Littlehampton is a popular seaside town in West Sussex and has a long stretch of beach where some areas allow dogs all year round whilst other sections have seasonal bans. Here we try and guide you through a great dog-friendly visit to Littlehampton.
Littlehampton is where the River Arun enters the sea, and on the western bank, you have Littlehampton West Beach which allows dogs all year round. You can either park at the beach or take the footbridge across from the town. A great beach backed by dunes, and if you continue westwards, mergest with the dog-friendly Climping Beach, if you like long walks, then you can just keep going all the way to Bognor Regis.
Littlehampton Beach is the main stretch of beach on the eastern side of the River Arun and is also known as Coastguards Beach after the Coastguard tower. This Littlehampton East Beach stretch has dog restrictions between East Pier and Norfolk Road from 1st May to 30th September. This is roughly from the river to just after the East Beach Cafe.
If you then continue from Norfolk Road up to Rustington, you cross out of Littlehampton Beach to Rustington Beach, and this stretch allows dogs all year round.
As you can see, although you have some seasonal restrictions in Littlehampton, it allows dogs with plenty of options available without needing to get in the car.
