About
Selsey is the southernmost town in Sussex and sits on a peninsula to the south of Chichester in West Sussex, and is bounded to the west by Bracklesham Bay and to the east by Pagham Harbour.
Selsey Bill Point marks the tip of the peninsula, and you have great beaches spreading in either direction.
Dog Access and Rules
The west beach at Selsey is dog-friendly all year round, whilst the east beach has restrictions between groynes E26 and E33 from 1st May to 30th September each year, and dogs must be kept on a lead while walking the sea wall.
Things To See & Do
Selsey sits south of Chichester, on a low-lying peninsula surrounded by sea.
The walking is easy overall, but the shingle terrain is the main challenge. It can be tiring, uneven and harder work than it looks. Promenade paths help balance this out if you want something gentler. How far you walk depends on you and your dog’s energy levels. We like parking by the east beach, taking a stroll along the promenade and then settling for a nice drink in the garden at The Lifeboat Inn.
There’s little shelter, so wind and weather play a big role in how the walk feels.
Access and Facilities
You have toilets and car parking (Postcode PO20 0SZ) by the lifeboat station on Selsey East Beach and car parking (Postcode PO20 0LJ) on Selsey West Beach.
