About
Millook Haven Beach is one of the most remote, dramatic coastlines near Bude. Situated beneath steep cliffs in a narrow valley, this small cove feels far from the busier northern Bude beaches.
The setting is rugged and quiet. Cliffs rise steeply above a beach of shingle, sand, and striking folded rocks, famous among geologists. Low tide reveals sandy patches between rocks for exploring with your dog.
Reaching Millook Haven is an element of the adventure. A steep, winding lane leads to the coast, reinforcing its sense of isolation. For a peaceful stop close to nature and away from crowds, this cove delivers.
Millook Haven is the sort of place you stumble upon and remember. Quiet, rugged, and wonderfully atmospheric, it’s a lovely stop for a peaceful dog walk by the sea.
Dog Access and Rules
Millook Haven welcomes dogs all year with no seasonal bans.
The beach is usually quiet, so many owners let dogs off-lead, especially at low tide when there’s more space. Maintain control around wildlife, cliffs and visitors.
The rocky beach means you’ll need to watch your dog around slippery stones and tidal pools.
Things To See & Do
Millook Haven favours exploration over busy beach activities. At low tide, the beach reveals fascinating formations and rock pools where dogs can explore. Dramatic geological folds make even a short walk among the rocks interesting.
Dogs that enjoy quieter spaces will appreciate the peaceful atmosphere here.
Enjoy coastal walking? The South West Coast Path follows the cliffs above Millook Haven. Steep climbs reward you with spectacular views of the North Cornwall coastline.
Access and Facilities
Millook Haven is intentionally simple and largely untouched, so you have no facilities.
The closest parking area near the beach is to the north at Penhalt Viewpoint (Postcode: EX23 0DF), though it is small. The beach is reached via a steep, narrow cliff-top path or lane that winds down the valley. Just be careful as the lane is narrow and the cliff-top path is close to the unprotected edge.
Because of the remote setting, bring water, waste bags, and any supplies you need.
The nearest facilities are at Black Rock Beach, a few miles to the north.
