About
Jacob’s Ladder Beach is approximately 1 mile long and is a sheltered bay backed by red cliffs. The beach stretches out from the western end of Sidmouth’s Town Beach and is mainly pebbles, with sand and rock pools at low tide.
Jacob’s Ladder Beach takes its name from the wooden staircase that leads down to the beach from Connaught Gardens.
Dog Access and Rules
Jacob’s Ladder Beach allows dogs from the edge of the concrete area westward, but banned 1st May to 30th September on the beach in front of the concrete and eastward.
If you have a dog that can’t manage the stairs, then you have the option of a sloped path from Park Hill Road,

Access and Facilities
Facilities include parking, toilets, cafe, beach hut and deck chair hire. You don’t have to take the ladder as there is a sloped path leading from Park Hill Road.
