Year-round vs seasonal in South Wales
Many town beaches in South Wales restrict dogs on the main sands from 1 May to 30 September. Quieter stretches along the coast often stay open year-round.

1. Aberavon Beach, Port Talbot – seasonal on main stretch
From May 1st to September 30th, dogs are not allowed on the main stretch of Aberavon Beach backed by the promenade, and must stay on leads on the promenade.
During that period, dogs are allowed on the western and eastern ends. Out of season, you get a 3-mile sandy beach with dunes.
Parking is ample along the promenade, with toilets, cafes and ice cream shops.

2. Jersey Marine Beach and Crymlyn Burrows – open all year
Dogs are allowed on the beach all year, but must stay on leads in the dunes.
This is a long, wide sandy beach at low tide, backed by Crymlyn Burrows SSSI. Quieter than Aberavon, partly because access is trickier.
Parking is minimal, mostly a small pay-and-display on Elba Crescent off Fabian Way, then a footpath walk. Toilets at the Bay Campus west end.

3. Tenby
Tenby has four beach stretches, all with elements of seasonal restrictions from May 1st to September 30th, but don’t panic as the South Beach has plenty of year-round access.
Parking is ample around the town, and everything in Tenby is accessible on foot once you are parked up.
