About
The Fox & Rabbit Inn sits on the A169 between Pickering and Whitby, right on the edge of Dalby Forest and the North York Moors, so it’s a convenient stop with a dog before or after a walk. You’ve got moorland, forest trails and quiet villages within a short drive, then this classic country pub for food and a pint.
Food‑wise, the Fox & Rabbit runs a British and pub classics menu plus vegetarian, vegan and gluten‑free options. There’s a bar with cask ale, wines and a relaxed atmosphere where walkers and dog owners mix with locals and people staying nearby.
The inn also has a dog-friendly Caravan and Motorhome Club site behind the pub, which provides a great option to stay in the moors, although you do need to be a member (more details).
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed on leads in the bar area and outside garden areas.
Things To See & Do
For nearby dog walks, you’re spoiled for choice. Dalby Forest is just up the road for waymarked trails and forest tracks, while moorland routes and classic spots like the Hole of Horcum and Levisham are a short drive away.
Access and Facilities
The Fox & Rabbit sits directly on the A169, the main Whitby to Pickering road, so access by car or campervan is straightforward, with the inn clearly signed and a large car park on site. There’s plenty of parking for pub visitors and for the motorhome field.
The all-grass caravan and campervan site offers level pitches with hard standing, some with electric hookups, and amenities such as waste disposal points, running water, and, of course, a pub!
