About
Newport Sands is an expansive, mile-long stretch of sandy shoreline backed by dunes, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. At low tide, the beach is vast and open, creating the perfect playground for your dog to run and explore.
Dog Access and Rules
Newport Sands is incredibly dog-friendly and allows dogs year-round, making it a fantastic choice no matter when you visit.
Things To See & Do
Newport Sands is a 1.5 km sandy beach, a broad, long, flat, dune-backed beach at the mouth of the River Nevern. This gives your dog plenty of space to run freely, although be aware of other beachgoers and dogs.
The gentle waves of the estuary meet the sea here, making it a safe, shallow spot for paddling.
For those interested in longer walks, the nearby Pembrokeshire Coast Path offers cliff-top views and the opportunity to spot seals, dolphins, and other marine life. The cliffs to the north are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Access and Facilities
Newport Sands is easy to reach by car, with a spacious car park just behind the beach. If you’re coming by public transport, the nearest bus stop is in Newport Village, about a 15-minute walk from the beach.
Facilities include a car park, toilets, a dog-friendly cafe and seasonal lifeguards.
