About
Parrog, located on Newport’s outskirts in Pembrokeshire, is more a muddy harbour beach than a sandy recreational beach.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome on Parrog Beach year-round. While there are no seasonal restrictions, keeping your dog under control is always good practice.
Things To See & Do
Parrog Beach is a small beach framed by rocky outcrops. You don’t have any beach at high tide, so you would need to check out the tide times to ensure youโve got sand. But even with what looks like sand, it is muddy, so we recommend other beaches like Newport Sands nearby if you want a traditional beach.
Parrog has traditional stone cottages lining the shoreline and a historic quay that adds to its character. The nearby estuary is rich in wildlife, and birdwatchers will find plenty to admire as they explore the area.
Access and Facilities
Parrog Beach is easily accessible via the A487, with clear signage leading to Newport and the beach. A small car park near the beach can fill up quickly during busy periods, so arriving early is recommended. Local bus services connect Newport to nearby towns, making it a convenient destination for those travelling without a car.
Parrog Beach is a nice stop to rest and recharge if you’re exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
