About
Littlehampton is a popular seaside town in West Sussex, where the River Arun enters the sea. The two beaches on either side of the river offer a mix of sandy and shingle areas, providing a pleasant seaside experience.
Dog-Friendly Policies
Littlehampton Beach has dog-friendly areas and seasonal restrictions. The Littlehampton East Beach stretch, from the river to Norfolk Road just after the East Beach Cafe, has dog restrictions from 1 May to 30 September.
If you continue from Norfolk Road up to Rustington, you cross out of Littlehampton Beach to Rustington Beach, and this stretch allows dogs all year round.
However, we prefer over the river, as West Beach allows dogs throughout the year.
Things To See & Do
While water sports are popular at Littlehampton, if you’re visiting with a dog, you’ll likely focus on activities on the sand or pebble areas. Walking options are great. Head over to West Beach, a great beach backed by dunes, and if you continue westwards, it merges with the dog-friendly Climping Beach; if you like long walks, then you can keep going all the way to Bognor Regis.
The promenade along Littlehampton East Beach provides a paved walkway perfect for strolling with your dog, especially during the off-season when dogs are allowed.
Access and Facilities
Littlehampton Beach is easily accessible, with ample parking along the seafront and near the town centre. The town is also well-connected by train, with Littlehampton Railway Station, which is located just a short walk from the beach.
Littlehampton Beach is well-equipped with facilities, including cafes and kiosks where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink. Some of these establishments have outdoor seating areas where dogs are welcome. Additionally, there are public toilets available along the promenade.
