Primrose Valley Holiday Park sits on the cliffs just outside Filey, looking over a long sweep of Yorkshire coast where dogs can actually run, not just tiptoe between summer beach bans. It’s one of the bigger parks in the area, so you get loads of human stuff on site, then proper space for walks once you drop down to the sand or head along the coast path with the dog.
Dog Access and Rules
There’s a dog-friendly beach, a restaurant terrace, and nearby walking areas. Well-behaved dogs are allowed in designated areas of the main restaurant.
What's On Offer
Primrose Valley is loaded with facilities: indoor pool, extra indoor/outdoor lake‑side pool, fairground‑style activities, sports courts, an inflatable arena in season, arcade, plus the Lakehouse and a J D Wetherspoon pub for food and drink. There’s also a touring area with its own heated shower block, family rooms, dishwashing and a short walk through to the main complex.
Things To See & Do
The big win is direct access to Filey Bay. From the park, there is a path down to the beach (steep in places), and once you’re on the sand, you’ve got a vast, flat bay that goes on for what feels like miles at low tide. Filey’s beach is one of the better UK dog‑friendly beaches, with much more open sand for dogs than Scarborough’s central sections, especially outside the busiest summer zones.
You can also follow the clifftop paths towards Filey or in the other direction towards Flamborough Head, and passing over into East Yorkshire. Short drives can also get you to Filey town for dog‑friendly cafes, Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough for coastal walks (with on‑lead sections near the birds), or Scarborough and Cayton Bay if you want more classic seaside noise and another big dog‑friendly stretch of sand.
Access and Facilities
Primrose Valley Holiday Park sits just off the A165 near Filey, on a flat clifftop site. Buses run along the coast between Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington, so you can do car‑free days out with a dog that’s happy on public transport.
